Will Winter Shows Survive Rough Economy?
Warm weather resorts have long filled up with winter "business events" often called "shows". But with tough economy and beleagured stocks, will these big shows hold their own, or even survive? Showgo was created more than a decade ago to this rich agenda of consumer and business sector shows. Destinations like Vegas, the "Disney" locations, or other sunny favorites, like San Diego and much of Florida, top lists for these getaways. Some can be more coolish favorites that draw our rural audience like (our favorite) Louisville, or Nashville, or even Kansas City and Denver. But 2009 is not busienss as uaual, with massive company cuts, blue financial figures, destroyed consumer confidence.

Time will tell, but judging from the "deals" we are seeing in our network offices, Showgo will say there are some major changes ahead. Large global pulls like the Consumer Electronic Show coming up in Las Vegas will gague how the world metrics are playing out. The old joke goes if America gets a cold the rest get pneumonia could be instructive.

Showgo and Country Roads Network will report on usual favorites this year. Since many are providing "virtual show coverage" for media we will also add "roundup" coverage of a variety of shows. Stay tuned for the answer for 2009 shows to see who the winners are. Will it be "tourism" or "auctions and industry business events", or will it be a mirror of tough times and riddled corporate situations? (SHOWGO EDITORIAL-Robert Miller Editor)
